Pictorial maps

The pictorial map is a very sophisticated, detailed cartographic map, which mainly illustrates towns, parts of the country in a spectacular way. In the map the building or church is drawn in an exaggerated, stylized way to emphasis on the main attraction. Besides the photo-realistic pictorial maps, especially the touristic industry uses maps, which depict areas, subjects drawn realisticly and in a sophisticated artistic graphic style and sometimes focusing on a theme.

The panoramic map is sometimes a virtual flight, where a landmark is drawn in an eye-catching way in order to help the navigation or to transfer the information. The illustrated map of the center of Sopron is drawn by Ferenc Tamás, artist. Last time when I stayed longer in Sopron, the town of loyalty and freedom, I saw this map, framed on the wall of  almost every restaurants and bars.
